A partial list of bidders in the upcoming FCC 700 MHz spectrum auction has surfaced. Confirmed bidders include AT&T, Cox Communications, Denali Spectrum License (owned in part by Leap Wireless), Frontline Wireless, Google, and Verizon Wireless. Others are likely to emerge over the coming weeks. Some companies not participating in the auction include Clearwire, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The 700 MHz auction will begin January 24 of next year and bidding companies have until December 28 to submit their up-front payments. Bidding is expected to start at $4.6 billion.
