AT&T has written a public letter to the FCC stating that it expressly forbids the use of peer-to-peer applications on its mobile phones and laptop cards. It said that its network is built to enable short bursts of high-speed traffic for activities such as sending email or browsing the web, not for sustained high-bandwidth activities such as downloading media content. It says that the P2P clause is explicitly spelled out in its terms of service as forbidden, and told the FCC it will cancel the contract of anyone found to be in violation of those terms.
