Last Friday, AT&T filed a petition with the FCC in a move aimed at halting the merger of Sprint’s Xohm Wimax service with Wimax provider Clearwire. It has asked the FCC to require Clearwire and Sprint to demonstrate that the merger serves the public interest just like any other providers would have to do. AT&T contends that because Clearwire is to be backed by heavyweights Google, Intel, and cable companies, the deal needs to be properly scrutinized.
