DigitalRise d718i Imitates, Improves on the iPhone

September 20th, 2007 · Source [PMP Today] · 1 Comment

Once you move past the whole iPhone-clone thing, it becomes evident that the d718i from DigitalRise actually manages to better the Apple product in a few areas. The device is a tri-band GSM phone that comes with a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that can show up to 260,000 colors. It plays MPEG-4 and 3GP video files in full-screen mode, and handles MP3s without breaking a sweat.

The device is equipped with a 2MP camera that has auto focus and video-recording capability. It can also record audio in WAV and AMR formats. For wireless connection, Bluetooth 2.0, WAP and GPRS are available. While the phone only comes with 256MB of memory, you can slip in TransFlash cards up to 2GB in capacity.

The d718i has three built-in games, and a host of useful software: calendar, to do list, alarm, world clock, calculator, unit and currency converter, and pedometer. Best of all, it comes unlocked, so you won’t have to do any tricky software things just to get your real SIM to work on it. Interested? It’s available now for $168.99.

After your review I purchased one of these.
I have not been able to play mp4 yet and contacted the seller. Still waiting for a reply.
I would also like to know how to:
Change the screen timeout delay which is much too short at 6-7 secs. I also made a phone call that required entering some digits during the call. Anyone know how to do that?
Actually bought it for the dual sim cards and the fact it is unlocked. For that I am relatively happy:)
