Two weeks ago Apple released the first beta of the next iPhone OS for the iPhone 2009 to developers. Now Apple released the 2nd beta of the iPhone 3.0 firmware (iPhone OS beta 2 build 7A259) featuring the essential Push Notification Service.
The server side for the Push Notifications feature will be opened gradually to developers. Push Notifications are Apple’s way to have Apps keeping track of changes in the background. Apple is not doing real background processes because of battery life concerns.
Apparently the beta 2 of the iPhone 3.0 OS is running faster than beta 1.
