Apple Patent for 'Movement-Aware' iPhone Revealed

Apple have filed a patent for a ‘movement-aware’ handset. Gyroscopes immediately spring to mind, informing the handset of gesture controls such as flicks, etc, however, the patent also makes mention of proximity and light sensors, which adds a whole new level of complexity to the idea.

Interestingly the patent makes reference to possible issues when using such a device when the user is in motion himself. One possible solution is for the handset’s UI to alter is the handset detects that the user is jogging. For exmple, icons may become larger to enable easier presses whilst in motion.

Another tidbit worthy of mention is that the patent shows an iPhone with a forward facing camera, presumably for video conferencing a la iChat?
