Today Sony Ericsson announced its latest fashion phone, the Jalou. The Jalou, inspired by gemstones, is a compact flip that has a dedicated mirror key for the main display and homescreen widgets that will automatically retrieve Zodiac/horoscope information as well as other events. The Jalou supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and 900/1700/2100MHz WCDMA/UMTS 3G networks, and also has stereo Bluetooth, FM radio with RDS and aGPS. Other features include a 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture and video light, support for Microsoft ActiveSync, Google Maps, YouTube and a built-in pedometer function. The Jalou will be compatible with mircoSD cards (rather than Sony Ericsson’s M2 memory cards).
Sony Ericsson also announced a special Dolce & Gabbana special edition Jalou. The Dolce & Gabbana version comes with silk carrying bags for the phone and charger, as well as a Dolce & Gabbana branded headset with gold accents. It will also come with custom Dolce & Gabbana blog feed that sends headlines to the Jalou. Both versions will be available in select markets in the fourth quarter. Pricing wasn’t disclosed.
