Motorola have announed their second 5 MP cameraphone - the V66 slider handset, sharing a very similar feature-set with the company’s ZN5 candybar handset. However, unlike the ZN5, with the V66, there is no Kodak branding to be had. Two advantages the VE66 has over the ZN5, are 3G connectivity, as well as QVGA video recording (against the ZN5’s QCIF resolution).
Back to the camera side of things, an LED flash is present, as opposed to the ZN5’s powerful xenon flash. Also, the 3.5 mm jack seens in the ZN5 looks to be absent. TheVE6 will start shipping sometime before year’s end. Technical specifications are as follows:
- Connectivity: Quad-band GSM, EDGE, 3G
- OS: Linux Montavista v2.6.10
- Display: 2.2″, showing up to 262 thousand colours
- Camera: 5 MP, LED flash, autofocus, QVGA video recording, 30 FPS
- Memory: 110 MB internal, MicroSDHC expansion slot
- Extras: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity, FM Radio, with RDS, A-GPS
- Dimensions: 103 x 49.5 x 15.2 mm
- Weight: 121 grams
